Go and see Colman Getty in Windmill Street – just for friendly advice. They don’t take on individual books any more – I knew I wasn’t going to use them but it is interesting to get as much advice and as many angles about publicity as possible. I was also finding out what I should ask Midas when I see them next week. When I arrive back – the corrected manuscript has arrived – but I decide not to start on it (or the index) but to finish the bookshop database – which I do. I’ve entered over 1200 bookshops in the UK; I’m not sure yet when I’ll send them out. Still no proof copies … The Venus group now has 65 members.
