The proofs did arrive yesterday with plain white colours. The three copies from York Publishing services, which they’d done for me for free, and which arrived a couple of days ago had the proper cover – if only I had found out about them earlier. Do the VAT return and send off review copies to a few other people I had promised them to. Get the width of the spine – 19.5mm – from Butler and Tanner – so the button really will be ready to push on Monday. Sign my contract with Midas and send off the first cheque. Start addressing envelopes to those bookshops without e-mail.
