I was literally about to press the send button with the the PDF files off to the printers, when I rechecked something and noticed a mistake in the index – but in the nick of time I was able to ask Antony to correct it. I got in a complete state as to whether I was sending the final and corrected version to the printers. I checked and re-checked the PDF files – I think I sent the correct ones but all very tense! I heard from Waterstones that they will make Venus core stock and depending on the publicity generated they might be able to ‘do something more with it’. Start doing envelopes for those bookshops without e-mail – get as far as ‘E’. Deliver the extra proof copies to Midas. Go into Waterstones in Garrick Street and Stanfords – both interested.
